CMFM News
July – November, 2019

Hello! I hope you are doing well and had a Happy Thanksgiving last week. I haven’t emailed for a while. This is the update on all the news that has happened this summer and fall. Thank you very much for your faithful prayers and support for the ministry. God bless you all.

Insurgent Activity
This year we had some unusual things happened in our city. Some insurgent groups launched rockets in a military technology school in the city that is one of the army populated and peaceful cities in the country. We have a Defense Service Academy in the entrance of the city, this technology institute in the exit of the city, and we also have several army trainer centers in the city. Thank God we are safe, but at the moment no visitors, either foreign or local, came to the city. Since the city’s economy depends on tourism, they held a media conference to declare the city safe. Now everything is getting back to normal.

Elephant Flu
As chikungunys (elephant flu) spread, we became victims. Everyone in the household except Buzi got sick during last two months. Some got repeatedly sick, two or three times. A number of MBI students had it also. It is unusual and severe. Some of us are still suffering pain in our bones and joints, but thank God we can work normally. Gideon got the flu first, but now he is doing great. He got A’s in all subjects in his weekend English school. He has a big dream that is to earn his higher education in the USA when he grows up. That is his usual prayer request at family night devotions every day.

Ministry Gift
We are so thankful to White Oak Christian Church for the Compassionate Wave gift. We received $4,000 and it was a great blessing to make the kitchen for the orphanage and a wall to prevent erosion in the back. We are so thankful to every single person and church and Sunday school class for your support in many ways. We are so blessed in the ministry by all of you.

Church Events
Buzi is teaching Sunday school and leading the ladies choir group and other social activities in the church. Now they are busy preparing for convention. We had a church revival on Oct 14-16. Usually the church invites preachers from different places, but this year three of us from MBI were invited. I preached the first night entitled: “Honor your Father and your Mother.” And I had another chance to preach again at our Thanksgiving service. I always thank God for giving me the opportunities both in teaching and in preaching ministry.

Myanmar Bible Institute (MBI)
Although we have faced financial difficulties, MBI is running well. All the faculty and staff are serving faithfully and the ministry is growing. Some students are teaching Sunday school in 7 different places, including a new place that is started this year.

The new building at MBI is also almost complete. The first semester went well, and now we are in the second semester. As a dean of students, I enjoy being able to mentor students both spiritually and educationally.

American Visitors
We enjoyed our friends’ visits to us. We had a good time with Kent Odor, the chairman of Asia Christian Services (ACS). I also had a good opportunity to meet Chuck McDaniel, a Board member of ACS in September. In Nov. 9- 16, Doug Umbanhowar, his daughter, Anna Fudge, and Cris Fuller visited to MBI. Anna taught two days about “Introduction to Trauma Competent Care” and Cris taught Music. What a good time and blessings to meet our beloved friends who love the Lord and serve Him faithfully.

Ministry Travels
• On Nov. 12, I am heading to Mesai, Thailand concerning “Tangshang Naga Literature.” We had one-week workshop and an important and fruitful meeting with Summer Institute of Language (SIL). We have made a future plan for producing hymnals and the Bible in Tangshang Naga language—which would be the first time ever.

• I went to Myitkyina, in the north on Nov. 26-30 to participate in the Myanmar Churches of Christ leaders’ conference and meeting. This was a National level meeting.

• I will have several advocacy trips in the NW and Arunachal Pradesh in India after MBI graduation.

• Dec. 3-5 the Lower Myanmar Churches of Christ Combined Christmas and Convention will be held in Mandalay City that is 42 miles from Pyin Oo Lwin. I am assigned a teaching session. The whole school will serve in a couple of areas.

• During December break, we will have gospel trip to Naga land in the Northwest. I will bring some students with me.

Special Christmas Funds Needed

I would like to take at least 6 students on the Christmas trip to spread the gospel. Each student will need $200 for the trip. We will travel to Khamti and Lahe areas and will participate in Lahe churches combined Christmas in Khalai village, Lahe Township. During this trip, I am planning to travel along Chindwe River up to Khamti city for sharing the gospel and doing survey for a new outreach ministry field.

Please lift your prayer up for Myanmar ministry. Thank you, God bless you all.
